Daily commutes and work travel were a great place for AP Group to start reducing our environmental footprint. Low hanging fruit if you will. We have taken three simple steps to help us capitalise on the many green travel options available – we don’t pretend these steps are the panacea, but they are a decent start.
1. Empowering Eco-Friendly Choices
By providing free public transport passes, we make it easy for our team members to leave their cars at home, put their feet up and read a book on the train (Note – figure of speech only, you’re likely to be fined with feet on the seat). This not only reduces traffic congestion but also helps combat air pollution.
2. Investing in Sustainable Infrastructure
In addition to public transport incentives, we’ve invested in on-site bike parking and changerooms, making cycling a convenient and viable option for our team. These facilities not only promote physical activity and employee well-being but also reduce our collective carbon footprint by encouraging eco-friendly modes of transportation.
3. Minimising our air travel and offsetting where we can’t
We aim to minimise interstate travel when possible, but we understand that longer trips are sometimes unavoidable. In these instances, we purchase carbon offsets for all flights. We’ve also implemented a policy that prioritises hybrid and electric vehicle transportation and car hire.
